Cellar Conversions

Converting a damp, cold cellar or basement into a warm dry living room increases the comfort and the value of your home. You can transform an unused basement into a new games room, play room, or home office - whatever your lifestyle needs.

Water penetration below ground can be difficult to control. We often find basements where two or three different systems, such as bitumens and renders, have been applied and failed. With our professional expertise and experience we can guarantee you a successful conversion.

Our Approach

Our approach is to start with a professional survey by our experienced surveyors. They study all the important factors, including water tables, types of substrate and the final use to which the basement will be put. We can then recommend the conversion system that will best suit you and your property.

For contractors and developers we complete basic lining works. For home owners we provide complete solutions – even down to fitting the carpet. We can also create new cellars in houses that do not have them, so that you can extend your home downwards, or even out under your garden.

All our work is done to British Standard 8102, the industry standard for best practice.

Our Conversion Systems

The most common conversion will use a cavity drained membrane system with a dry-lining finish, which work better than conventional "paint-on" rendered systems. The dry-lining and membrane are installed inside the existing walls, leaving a small cavity. Water collects in the cavity, then is simply drained or pumped away.

All our systems are sourced from Wykamol, who are the major British supplier and have more than 70 years experience in the field.
